Christmas Eve 2010

Wow! This few weeks had been a whirlwind of events! It’s no wonder I’m too busy to update this space of mine, nor remember the sequence of events. Hahaha! Hopefully I didnt get them wrong.

Christmas Eve

Afternoon was spent with my lovely colleagues. It was time to reveal who was whose angel and who was whose mortal! Few months ago, we started this game called Angel & Mortal. Everyone will be  someone’s angel as well as mortal. Angels were supposed to encourage and care for our mortals, by ways of dropping cards or little gifts into our individual Xmas baggie. We had 2 chances to guess our angel but alas, it’s so difficult as our agency is pretty big. So very few people got it right. I did, because my angel hinted me at the very last minute. So I escaped from the forfeit, which was potatoe chip/cake dribbling down the face. Lol.

And guess what, my angel was also my mortal!! And he is Remus! What a coincidence! Because few years ago, he was also my angel in this game. The whole event took more than 6hours since 12pm. Other than our potluck Xmas buffet luncheon, we also prepared Xmas gifts for our mortals. As everyone was both an angel and mortal, everyone got a gift as well. =D Oh a few lovely colleagues also gave dearie and me pressies. Thank you all!!

If you haven noticed, Oli’s card is handmade! So prettyyyyyy! =)

Adrian & I thank you all!!! =D

These pressies are for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~ =D

Thank you all!! Pretty difficult to find a frame to fit all the pictures. Only had to place them as per their size, still pretty squeezy. Argghhhhhh~

I love all the gifts! =D Some were received after Xmas but I put them together. =)

Suan knows I love leopard prints and so, she got me a leopard prints scarf as well as HELEN’s purple leopard prints hairband. Haha. Irene got me serum for my dry, frizzy permed hair. =D And Cel know I love masking so Missha, TheFaceShop & 我的美丽日记 masks for me. =) Lovely orange mug from Remus. Yummy Almond Roca from Lin, and last but not least, Precious Moments Magnetic photo frame from Gra. I actually had a similar Xmas pressie before. Haha. Love love love!

I’m really very very paiseh lah because we didnt prepare any Xmas pressies. =X Firstly, we dont really have that habit of preparing/giving Xmas pressies. Secondly, was realllllllllyyyyyyyyy too busy this Nov and Dec. =(

After the event, actually we were realllllyyyy very tired. But we had to eat anyway, so we went PS, Tea Cosy to have my favorite foie gras. =D Isnt it almost the perfect place to have a Xmas dinner? The cafe just oozed Xmas ambiance, albeit abit messy la. =P

Oh yes. I just suddenly learned that Photoscape can insert cuteeee and prettyyyy graphics like these! Ya lor stupid me, now then know. =P Okie, in future my pictures might have alot of these act-cute thingy. Haha! I’ve reviewed Tea Cosy many times so I shall skip this time. Their pan-seared foie gras and tomatoe & crabmeat bisque will always be my favorite. =D Dearie said his prawn aglio olio waas merely OK though.

After our dinner and some window shopping, dearie fetched me to Cel & Sean place for mahjiong with Ken and Jov. =P

When it was around 10seconds to midnight, all of us(mj players) called up our other halves to wish Merry Xmas and mouth sweet things. =D It was pretty funny as we totally threw all reservations away and started to…”Darling/honey/dear, Merry Xmas, I love you always. Smuacks smuacks! =D”

After that we resumed our mahjiong. Haha. Oh it was a lucky night as I won $170(I think). The most which I’ve ever won! Hope it lasts. Haha!

9th Aug 2010 My Birthday

Continued from previous entry…..

Rise and Shine. It was 9th Aug 2010. Dearie actually booked the massage at 5.45pm which was soOoo ridiculously late. I asked him bluntly, “since we’re checking out at 2pm, what should we do until 5.45pm?”

Then, he realised the appointment was being made too late. =S He also planned to bring me go Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo! Yeah, I’ve been lemming to go for so long and everytime he has lots of excuses; weather too hot, attire not right, no mood etc. Gu-niang lah he.

Therefore, it’s too rush if we need to go home and store the icecream cake and then rush to Night Safari again since entry starts at 7pm. Our Zoo is very very crowded one wor! Hence, we had no choice but to cancel the massage since no early slots were available.

It’s okie, we can go other time. =D

Grabbed my fave dishes at Tea Cosy, PS before leaving for home.

Tomato and Crabmeat soup!

Though there’s not alot of crab meat, the soup was wonderfully tasty and will leave a lasting impression because I’ve never tasted anything quite like that. Yummy! For those who’re afraid of tomato taste, dont worry, it doesnt have a heavy tomato taste. The 2 main ingredients really blended beautifully. Around S$8.95.

Pan seared Foie gras.
I kinda remembered I blogged about this before. I love foie gras here than anywhere else because of it’s special zesty and fruity punch! Love the small pieces of mandarin oranges(love it if there’s more) and was it caramelized pears too? It’s just an extraordinary combination which amazingly clicked very well! Crisp on the outside, soft and moist inside….Seriously I can eat this everyday………yeah……and get choked with high cholesterol. It’s less than S$30 and let’s hope the price will never hike. Of course, you dont think you can get full with this dish yah.

Another recommendation will be it’s Duck Pasta. Very yummy too.

After a change of attire at home, we’re off to the Zoo!!

I enjoyed the day like a little girl with my dear hubby. Yipee! Sg life is too stressful, sometimes the zoo might be a good place to de-stress. =P We prepared mosquito patches, applied sunblock, bring water and were ready to go!

I made a major mistake when I left my scrunchies on the car and was unable to tie my hair. Horror! It was so hot and I’m only left with a tiny clip. I cliped up my hair but it dropped now and then and turned me into sadako. I had no choice but to try ANYTHINGI can just to keep that mass up, even if it meant I looked like a shrew or lao auntie. My hair is seriously getting too long. Hence you kept seeing me with different obscene hairstyles in the pictures. Not because I very free to keep change pattern okie.

Before starting our tram ride, we were a little hungry and decided to grab something to eat at Ulu Ulu Safari. What shocked us were the prices of our local dishes. I expected them to be higher as it is a tourist spot. However, I wasnt prepared for a plate of chicken rice which can cost as high as $18! Ridiculous! I looked around and basically even Char Kway Teow can costs like $15 or so. I…simply dont have the heart to order 1…and finally I saw a grill stall which sells Grilled Stingray with rice at $18.

If I have to be kanna chop carrot, at least I choose something more worth it loh. And so we ordered that.

It wasnt that tiny a piece which I’ve expect…more like the small size stingray around $10 at our usual zi-char stalls. The taste was not bad…stingray was fresh and at least the bowl of rice was huge.

But of course, the best stingray ought to be at Balestier Market, How Hup Stall.

Very limited pictures as flash shots were not allowed. Our favourite animal would be Tarsier. They might be the smallest and cutest monkey you ever seen with their huge orbs of innocent eyes. They are also nocturnal and in the list of endangered species. Failed to grab a picture of it because by then it was dark. The asian otters were very cute too as they’re mini in size.

The animal which left the deepest impression would be the bats. They can be pretty large when they spread out their wings fully. They were flying everywhere in the gigantic netted enclosure. You just have to dodge them because it seemed they’re really kinda blind and anyhow fly, not looking what is infront of them. =P I was almost struck deaf by the stupid woman infront of me who was screaming with her lungs out with every step she take.

Duhz! Scared then dont go inside to see lah!

The flying squirrels were an eye-opener too but we didnt see them fly though. Love their bushy tails. But they’re kinda too far high up the tree to see them properly.

The highlight of the whole trip will the the “Creatures of the Night” show. It was only 30minutes but we can just imagine the amount of time they spent in training the small and cute animals. Very entertaining, be sure to catch it when you’re there.

In short, actually we didnt see tons of animals during the night safari. I think we can see more during the afternoon. Perhaps next time. =D

Alright. Here are the pictures but really limited since flash pictures were not allowed as they will harm the eyes of the animals. The ones which I’ve managed were without flash and clear. Most turned out blur.

(Can “X” the SuperPokes on right hand side)

We went Bt Panjang for some late night supper(Satay!!) before going home too. =D

Thank you honey for the lovely day out! Love you always. Smuacks!!

Tea Cosy, 水感肌-Aqua Sense

Tea Cosy is one of my favourite restaurants in Singapore. Not only does it serves great and affordable foie gras, their service is great. Not to mention, every dish on their menu is so exquisitely made. You can see their efforts. Located at Plaza Sing, the storey where SpotLight is situated. Level 5 I think.

My favourite pan-fried foie gras $26

I feel I can never get sick of it. Haha. Frankly speaking, I prefer their foie gras than The French Kitchen‘s. No offence to the chef, merely because I prefer Tea Cosy‘s way of preparing the foie gras. It’s paired with apricot chutney and sweet baby mandarin oranges and it made the dish zesty and refreshing. Plus, there are some wasabi sauce as well, which werent too spicy and it’s such a punch on the taste buds.

Dearie had braised duck pasta which was also good(I tried before) but as I had a small tiff with him at that moment, I didnt bother to talk to him nor take picture of his food. =P

Went Watson yesterday and was surprised to find DHC sitting on the shelves. Their products were pretty good and somehow they reminded me of Fancl. I bought many stuff from them on my..Hongkong trip I think, like eye gel, lipglosses, pimpel gel and health supplements and they are so cheap. That’s why imagine my horror when I saw the price differences, a jump of 3 times! I remembered I bought the eye gel at below S$15 in Hongkong, imagine it selling at S$42 in Singapore Watson.

I exclaimed loudly to dearie in a fit who tried to calm me down. Even the moisturizer which Li offered to buy for me from Japan is also 1/3 of the price. I understand that they need to profit but also not so much what! Like TheFaceShop, Skinfood, Benefit, they’re grossly overpriced in Sg. If this continues, more people will engage in sprees and shipped them from overseas, just like how people are spreeing from Korea and Taiwan.

If you’re interested in TheFaceShop, Skinfood and E’TUDE products, you can join in the sprees at http://www.seoulshop.blogspot.com/. They should be much cheaper.

Humph. I will never buy DHC products off the shelves of Watson. Madness.

However, I saw another product which bought glee to my eyes.

水感肌-Aqua Sense (Japan formula)
Chrysanthemum Relax and anti eye bag eye mask

It’s the exact same series as the Anti dark-circles eye mask which I recommended here, except the dark eye circles packaging is in pink whilst this is in orange. It was out of stock though.

Apologies for giving the wrong brand earlier. Haha. Oh and its S$14.90 for a pack of 12. So cheap.

I dont have eye bags though I feel they’re already on the way. =( They’re getting a little puffy from lack of sleep. So prevention is better than cure!

Some little incident which I feel like mentioning. It happens in the foodcourt when I was queuing for fruits. There were 3 of us in the queue and I was the last. There was this auntie who came by in the opposite direction of the queue, saw us(I saw her bio-ing us) and then proceeded to the front and said she would like to get bla bla bla. The stall auntie gave her a very wary look and asked out loud, “who came first?” At first I was pretty sian, she was serving the 1st customer and the other 2(including me) were right behind all this while, she didnt see meh and have to ask?

Anyway, I said LOUDLY(I meant real loudly), “We came first one.” Then the stupid jump-Q auntie went off in embarrassment and didnt even bother to queue behind me. The young girl infront of me, a student I assumed, turned back and smiled at me, mouthing a “thank you”. I smiled back of course but felt so funny. It’s like…ahhh….

Really buay tahan such people. This group of aunties, obviously not blind but always ACT blind and attempt to jump Q. And they’re not even old nor handicapped nor pregnant, and merely just want to take people’s advantage. She obviously SEEN us and still wanna act blur. Really feel like giving her 1 tight slap, she will be such a bad example to her kids. Hng!

Dearie again tried to calm me down after I regaled the whole tale to him, still huffing. =P
