Summer’s 4th Birthday + Happy Mother’s Day

Ahh….I have so many overdue events to update.

One at a time!

8th May 2011

It’s Summer’s 4th birthday as well as my long-lost meet with Hanni, whom I haven seen for the last 10 years!! We’ve been in contact in facebook and I miss the babe ever since she left for Aussie and then subsequently, U.S, 10 years ago. Her hubby is a Caucasian, love her to bits and they produced 2 charming kids, Summer and Scott. The party was pretty crowded so I didnt really take many pictures. So glad to meet Ash too who’s staying in the same condo, whom I haven seen for quite a while too. And no joke, both of them still looked as hot as they always do, despite with no make-up!

Isnt she the most adorable and sweetest creature on earth?

Summer is like a breath of fresh air whom you cant help loving no matter how much kids might not be your cup of tea. If I ever have a baby daughter like her, I’m sure she will be my sunshine everyday I woke up. =) If you’re still having the burning question as to when I’ll have a baby, “the answer is “no, no yet”. =)

Happy Birthday Summer!!

The 3 of us chatted for awhile and said about meeting up for another drink soon before I left to meet Mummy for dinner as it’s Mother’s Day too.

Happy Mother’s Day, my dearest and greatest mummy in the world. I got her 2 pairs of earrings and I really hope she likes it. Actually, seriously, I’ve already run out of ideas on what to give her. Her favorite colour is purple. =)

Earrings from Kaori’s Creations, of course. =)

Blossoms of Love

Violet Dreams – wearable in 2 ways

Hope she likes it. =)

We had our dinner at West Mall, Swensen, which is Mummy’s favorite. I wished to let her try Mayim Cuisine but the queue was simply horrible. Nevertheless, we waited for a prettttty long time before the dishes arrived. Ahh….they’re not really worth a mention and seriously disappoints me because I’ve always feel Swensen’s dishes have a minimum standard. Anyway, at least we enjoyed the Earthquake(icecream). Keke!

It has been ages since I took photos with Mummy. And seriously, after I got my hair cut quite horribly, I’ve been shunning the camera like a plague. =S However, it’s Mother’s Day! So pictures it is!

Love you much Mummy and I wish you the pink of health, stay happy and beautiful always. =D

We shopped around in West Mall and I spotted a lovely oil burner at a pushcart!!

It’s love at first sight.

Love the artsy paintings on the uniquely-shaped burner. It reminds me of a light house. =) Was kinda worried that it will be overly expensive. I inquired the price of a simple burner before, one with at least 3-4 hours capacity and it was a freaking $49.90!

I also love it that the tray is removable. That will probably decrease the chance of clumsy me breaking it while carrying it to and fro. Erm, I broke the last one we bought from Bali. =(

Taken by iphone via Instagram

Oh And it’s only $25! =D

Now it’s sitting on our newly bought side table from Seahorse. =)

Love it! Matches the bed perfectly! Love the deep deep drawers too! I love storage anywhere, anytime.

Actually we ran a few places to find a suitable side table but it’s not easy because room runs Victorian style. I cant believe we found the perfect one at Seahorse while shopping at Causeway Point and it’s around $200 only! Like less than half price of our “old” side table. (=.=)”’

What happens to the “old” side table?

It’s main purpose is to hold the Avante Humidifier. It’s also appropriate else the bedroom look abit empty at this side.

Reviews of Avante Humidifier
There’s a knob to adjust level of humidity. I much prefer the highest for my dry skin but water really gets depleted really quickly, like 2 days. I know it’s probably much longer than those little humidifier which only lasted hours. But it’s troublesome to refill the large tub of water la…so I reduce the that the water can last around 3days or so.

Strictly no oil-based aromatherapy, it will get it stucked. Only water-based can be used. So far so good. It’s $88, pretty economical for it’s large capacity I supposed. =)

Dearie’s birthday 2010 Part I @ Park Regis

Might as well be done with it(the blogging I mean)!

It’s supposed to be a surprise but I let the cat out of the bag because of 1 stupid silly little quarrel we had after our movie on his birthday eve.

It went something like;

1) He said something which annoyed me the first time. I let it go and laughed it off
2) After 10minutes, he said it the second time which finally got under my skin
3) He argued that it’s something very minor, so why get angry?
4) I then said if it’s that minor, why the need to mention twice?
5) Again, his(or rather guys’) typical style, he acted as if nothing happen and didnt apologise
6) I was waiting for it but it never came and my “fire” grew bigger.
7) In short, he felt he shouldnt need to apologise because it’s HIS BIRTHDAY! And I should 让一让他。

Woah! Birthday dai sai(cantonese=big shot) ah?

8) And of course I dont agree that you dont have apologise even if it’s your birthday loh.
9) Oh and he mentioned it’s a way of giving in when he initiated to talk to me. That does not equate an apology leh.
10) And I said I did tried to give in(on the account that his birthday) that I hinted him to say “sorry” so that I can let the matter rest in 3seconds.

He did took the cue and apologised grudgingly and gave me attitude and smelly face thereafter.

That irked me to the MAX and I sadly thought “To think I already went to such efforts to plan your birthday~ Dinner, movie and hotel stay at Park regis the next day etc~~” and then I started to tearrrrrr~ =( Then I sent him a message asking him to check in Park Regis himself the next day since it has already been charged to my card, dont waste it. And also, he will now prefer to spend the day without me.

Then he came into the room, apologized and we made up. =|

I said I realised he or rather guys dont apologise easily, as if it got something to do with pride. AS IF we ladies no pride? I ALWAYS apologise when I’m the wrong. Usually what he do is to initiate talking, that’s his way of giving in, his way of saying sorry.

I said that’s okay with me SO LONG SO in future I also wont apologise to him for any wrong I do. I will follow the same and “initiate talking” as a way of saying “sorry”. Be fair to me right?

“You okay with it? If so, deal, we’ll NEVER apologise to each other again. Just initiate talking signifies giving in will do.”

But he never take up the deal. Bleh~

Anywayyyyyyyy, once we made up, we forgot about everything. We’re not people who keep things inside heart or remembers, especially myself.

Next day~~ 4th Dec 2010

We woke up late and only reached Park Regis at 3.30pm when the check-in time was 2pm. Guess what? The room was not ready. Very annoyed. Left our bags there and walked to The Central, Watami to have lunch. When we’re back at 4.30pm. Guess what again? The room was STILL not ready.

Well, I thought another 15minutes or so, it should be ready.

We waited for another 1 HOUR before the room was ready!!!

CHECK-IN TIME = 5.30pm

You cant imagine how black my face was and you cant blame me! Half the day was gone~~~~~ The manager treated us to drinks at their lounge while waiting but what’s the use? We’re tired and wanted to rest!! I felt sOoo argghhhhh because it’s dearie’s birthday! He then tried to console me.

Nice room though!

Kudos to the interior designer! It was actually a very small room at 20sq m but it totally dont look small or cramped. In fact it looks very cosy and warm. Love the decor and colour combi too, green with dark wood. =) Huge TV! But not many channels. =.=”’

It’s a open-concept bathroom where there’re no doors to section the basin area, for fear of making the room look smaller. 2 frosted glass cubicles, 1 with toilet bowl and another for shower(Rain shower). They’re big enough. 1 bad point will be you will need to off the aircon when you’re bathing else it’s very cold when you came out of the cubicle to dry yourself. Else, you just have to dry yourself inside the cubicle, which wasnt really big.

Many many mirrors. And 1 thing I dont like and superstitious about was 1 piece of mirror actually captured the bottom part of our bed. It also means every time we looked at the mirror, we didnt see ourself but will see the walls of the room too.

Which is………….erm….I dont know how to say. I just know if *touch wood* I saw anything in the mirror which wasnt supposed to be there in the middle of the night, I will freak out BIG TIME!

So I tried to sleep in the direction where I dont have to face the mirror. It’s not my usual preferred side and it took me awhile to fall asleep.

After we check in, we rested around 2 hours before we went downstairs for our complimentary dinner.

To be continued………………..

Dearie’s Birthday Eve 2010 Part II

After our lovely dinner………………..

Rapunzel it is!!

Ratings: 4.9/5

Omg~~ The animations were enchanting!! Lovely Rapunzel with her spun gold tresses, cheeky Eugene, endearing little Pascal and the white horse with attitude, Maximus. There’s not a single boring moment and guffaws were heard throughout the whole show! Love the development of the story too, punctuated with twists. Songs accompanied most scenes but doesnt leave me an impression though. Kinda reminded me of Enchanted, the movie, which has nicer songs.

After the movie, home sweet home.

Happy birthday darling. =)

While we’re at the topic of movies, here are some reviews of a few we caught recently:

Movie title: Next 3 days
Ratings: 2.5/5
Comments: Seriously…they should change the title to next 3 YEARS! It’s very heavy and draggy, and only gets more exciting towards the end. When the female lead tried to kill herself by opening her car door of the speeding car during the flee, Dearie and me cursed softly. I mean, if there’s a guy who can go through SO MUCH for me, just to get me out of jail and be together with me, the last thing I can do is to give my life up (when it’s not threatened at the moment) and break his heart! No matter whether there is success or not, at least it’s worth a try! Dearie and I both felt she really dont treasure her life much especially when she still has a young son.

Anyway, does such a good husband exists? Highly doubt so. =P

Movie title: Hello Stranger(Thai)
Ratings: 4.8/5
Comments: We laughed till we’re breathless. I have to take my hat off the director because actually the story focused on the only 2 leads of the story who spent their days in Korea, full stop, but he managed to add in different scenes to make it very hilarious, entertaining, touching and poignant. The ending took me by surprise though and I cant accept it! It’s the first time I stayed for few minutes after a show ended just so I can see whether there’s a change of ending. But no! The ending was really “like that”. I shant give any spoiler. It’s definitely worth to watch!

Movie title: Easy A
Ratings: 2.5/5
Comments: Really didnt expect the story to turn out like this. I like Emma Stone. She always struck me as a very diligent, versatile actresses who is not afraid of looking ugly on screen. However, the story lacks depth and punch and the exaggerating, lousy ending…I was like….”Huh, they merely anyhow tossed an ending like that and expect us to take it?” =.=”’ As if when you only speak the truth after SO LONG, people will believe? Please lah.

Dearie’s birthday eve 2010 Part I @ Dozo Restaurant

3rd December
Dearie’s birthday eve

The day started with a jacuzzi bath at Spa Elements, The Cathay, and followed by a massage.

We cant help but notice some differences from our last experience, which was also Dearie’s birthday.

They used to serve a jug of icy cold Ribena drink which was utterly refreshing.

This year, it was substituted with chinese tea. =.=”””””””’

And the worse thing was…………we noticed the edges of the tub had powder-like debris only towards the end of our soak. =( It was super dampening because it was grosssssssssss. I was very unhappy and demanded an explanation from the manager. She said perhaps the previous customer poured some aromatherapy thingy into the tub, thus some power-like debris stained the tub edges. And we just got to know they only change the water in the jacuzzi once everday no matter how many customers booked the jacuzzi that day!!

OMGGGGGGG~~ What they did is to dump 1 chlorine pill inside the tub to kill the germs. But still…………very gross lor. =(

To cut the story short, we werent charged with the credits(credits were charged for package users). And we went on with the massage. I had Shiatsu as I dont wish oil on my body after a bath while dearie had Swedish style.

Still, it was very relaxing after the massage. It did indeed loosen some knots in my back. After which, I told dearie to drive towards Valley Point Shopping Center for our planned dinner.

It was a pretty ulu place. Other than searching for the carpark, we actually walked 15minutes around the mini mall because we cant find any lift or stairs up to the 2nd floor! This is the time where you quit acting shy and smart and open your mouth to ask a damn stupid question, “Erm, how do I get to the 2nd storey?”

“Oh, please go OUT of the shopping center this way, turn right and go up a flight of stairs to the 2nd storey.”

Brillant! Which goon-du architect designed the mall this way huh? No wonder we cant find because there’s NO lift nor STAIRS inside the mall that can lead to 2nd storey.

Finally!! We reached, 30minutes late.

Dozo, it is.

Presented with the menu……

When opened……………

Pardon me, but it’s my first time reading a menu made of frosted gold, cold hard acrylic. Klass with a capital K, baby.

Other than the starter which cant be chosen, we made our choices as those marked by the star. =D Actually dearie only decide his main and prefers me to choose the others because ultimately I’m the one who researched this restaurant and knows what are their signature dishes. But of course, I’ve known him well enough to like what I picked. That’s the main reason why I chose this restaurant too.

You see, while I’m more of a fine dining person and a lover of french cuisine; Foie gras, escargots, lobster bisque etc(Ya, so typical Leo right), dearie is not that much into french stuff. He loves cod fish, scallops, and Asian delicacies like chilli crab, sambal stingray, chilli la-la, steamed fish in Teochew style etc. Not that I dont like them, I love them too. But when can I find yummy Asian dishes coupled with a flair of atas, romantic fine-dining leh? I mean, I cant bring him to Balestier market to eat on his birthday bah? He will probably kill me. Haha. Nahz, just kidding. =P

Hence, I searched high and low and this is the best I’ve come up with. Dozo serves fusion cuisine and suits us both perfectly. Codfish, scallops, beef broth for him while escargots, foie gras, crab bisque for me. Actually we love all on the menu, just in different degrees. =) Basically we love seafood lah.

Passport photo

Seriously, this expression for me, when I’m treating SUCH a nice dinner? Duhz!

We tried, or rather I tried to order all the signature dishes as recommended online but we settled on similar items for main course; Atlantic baked Cod and dessert; Chocolate Lava cake with Ice-cream. However, the starter for the day cant be chosen.

Interior of restaurant. Plush.

Apéritif served. Nice, little sour and refreshing.

Hur hur~ An apéritif did improved his disposition.

Starter – Advised to eat in the following order, center, right, left. =.=””

All were yummy! Wished the foie gras chunks can be bigger though. =P

Cold dish

Dearie’s king crab claw salad was so much ooomph!! Huge, juicy and simply fresh!! Topped with sweet mango, uber delicious. Smoked duck breast was very nice too. My first time, no doubt, the most tender duck breast I have ever eaten too.

See, he became so happy.

Hence concluded anything smoked is nice, like smoked salmon, smoked turkey breast/duck breast/ham etc. =) NOT SMOKING THOUGH. =P

Also ordered a glass of white wine at S$12++, pretty nice!

Side Dish

As much as I love cheese, I still prefer escargots to be cooked in their traditional french style in garlic and butter. It’s still a nice dish. Foie gras chawanmushi is a very unique dish. Amazingly, it really combines the taste of foie gras IN a chawanmushi! Nice. However, still very much prefer to eat foie gras AND chawanmushi separately as it is!

Yes, I forceeeeeed him to took a picture of me because he can never zi-dong and appreciate his wife. =P

Dearie commented his beef consommé tasted kinda weird and I agreed. Not very nice. My crab bisque cappuccino, as the name suggested, was super thick. Whilst the flavour was nice and rich, it will be perfect if it can be less “bubbly”(too much bubbles!) and not as thick. Feels like drinking a gravy instead of a soup. Still, it’s nice!

Main course

Baked Atlantic cod. Crisp on the outside and flaky in the inside. It’s very fresh and texture is great. However, it’s quite bland! We had to request for salt else it will be so wasteful of such a thick piece of fresh cod. Though they took 5minutes to present us with the salt, I’m very glad the salt was super fine and perfectly suitable to go with cooked food for consumption.

To date, best Atlantic cod is still from Fullerton, Forlino.

Yummy! Wish the lava cake can be bigger though! Crisp on the outside and absolutely warm and moist inside. Not much “lava” but will do, not too sweet. =)

Loved my Iced fruity refresher. Not overly sour and utterly refreshing. Dearie’s hot lavender tea is so-so.

See how contented he was?

So glad he liked the dinner. =D

Oh as a final review for Dozo, as much as business were flourising for them, their service was excellent and prompt. Nothing much to be fussy about. However, it’s certainly not very quiet inside the restaurant because waiters were bustling around and many inconsiderate people talking loudly. =( Kinda spoil any ambiance the lush restaurant might have given.
Perhaps weekdays might be better. =)

Guess where we headed next? =)

To be continued…………………..

Ah Lin Pre-birthday post

It was so impromptu! KS sms-ed saying wanna give Ah lin a surprise the next day. However I cant make it for the next few days but I said I’m available that very night. So 择日不如撞日! It was that night where we met up for a SURPRISE dinner buffet in Ah Lin’s honour! Dearie couldnt make it though. When Ah Lin saw Elaine and me, she was a little surprise only because she kinda expected something was up KS’s sleeves. Haha. But very wu xim ah!! =)

Took many pictures of the very very pretty birthday girl and I merely picked some nice(and sharp!) ones to load in Took me more than an hour to load them all up, around 38 pictures I think. Slideshow it is! =P

Our buffet was at UE Square, Shin Minori and as I’ve captioned, it’s not really worth mentioning if you’re going for the food. Still, we had alot of fun as it’s the company that matters. Wah, I realised KS is super good at making expressions leh! Very sayang that he’s not an actor. Hahaha. It’s my first time meeting Elaine and it’s very nice to meet this 美女. =D

I was actually still pretty sick that day so my eyes were like only half opened. KS apologised for dragging me out. It’s no prob lah! I’m okie, just that I’m not my usual cheerful and talkative self because wasnt feeling very well. Paiseh huh. =P

Because it was so impromptu, I dont have time to wrap up the pressie for Ah Lin(paiseh!) but HENG I had already bought her pressie in advance. =) Elaine’s gift is so pretty and adorable. Inside the beautiful HUGE box, she got Lin a Doraemon massager(operated by battery) which KS looked so ready to usurp it already. Haha!

Happy 2Xth birthday Kawaii Lin!!

I wish you all the best in your career, love life & stay cheerful and pretty always!!!

(P/S Lin, too many pictures! How to transfer you ah??)

9th Aug 2010 My Birthday

Continued from previous entry…..

Rise and Shine. It was 9th Aug 2010. Dearie actually booked the massage at 5.45pm which was soOoo ridiculously late. I asked him bluntly, “since we’re checking out at 2pm, what should we do until 5.45pm?”

Then, he realised the appointment was being made too late. =S He also planned to bring me go Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo! Yeah, I’ve been lemming to go for so long and everytime he has lots of excuses; weather too hot, attire not right, no mood etc. Gu-niang lah he.

Therefore, it’s too rush if we need to go home and store the icecream cake and then rush to Night Safari again since entry starts at 7pm. Our Zoo is very very crowded one wor! Hence, we had no choice but to cancel the massage since no early slots were available.

It’s okie, we can go other time. =D

Grabbed my fave dishes at Tea Cosy, PS before leaving for home.

Tomato and Crabmeat soup!

Though there’s not alot of crab meat, the soup was wonderfully tasty and will leave a lasting impression because I’ve never tasted anything quite like that. Yummy! For those who’re afraid of tomato taste, dont worry, it doesnt have a heavy tomato taste. The 2 main ingredients really blended beautifully. Around S$8.95.

Pan seared Foie gras.
I kinda remembered I blogged about this before. I love foie gras here than anywhere else because of it’s special zesty and fruity punch! Love the small pieces of mandarin oranges(love it if there’s more) and was it caramelized pears too? It’s just an extraordinary combination which amazingly clicked very well! Crisp on the outside, soft and moist inside….Seriously I can eat this everyday………yeah……and get choked with high cholesterol. It’s less than S$30 and let’s hope the price will never hike. Of course, you dont think you can get full with this dish yah.

Another recommendation will be it’s Duck Pasta. Very yummy too.

After a change of attire at home, we’re off to the Zoo!!

I enjoyed the day like a little girl with my dear hubby. Yipee! Sg life is too stressful, sometimes the zoo might be a good place to de-stress. =P We prepared mosquito patches, applied sunblock, bring water and were ready to go!

I made a major mistake when I left my scrunchies on the car and was unable to tie my hair. Horror! It was so hot and I’m only left with a tiny clip. I cliped up my hair but it dropped now and then and turned me into sadako. I had no choice but to try ANYTHINGI can just to keep that mass up, even if it meant I looked like a shrew or lao auntie. My hair is seriously getting too long. Hence you kept seeing me with different obscene hairstyles in the pictures. Not because I very free to keep change pattern okie.

Before starting our tram ride, we were a little hungry and decided to grab something to eat at Ulu Ulu Safari. What shocked us were the prices of our local dishes. I expected them to be higher as it is a tourist spot. However, I wasnt prepared for a plate of chicken rice which can cost as high as $18! Ridiculous! I looked around and basically even Char Kway Teow can costs like $15 or so. I…simply dont have the heart to order 1…and finally I saw a grill stall which sells Grilled Stingray with rice at $18.

If I have to be kanna chop carrot, at least I choose something more worth it loh. And so we ordered that.

It wasnt that tiny a piece which I’ve expect…more like the small size stingray around $10 at our usual zi-char stalls. The taste was not bad…stingray was fresh and at least the bowl of rice was huge.

But of course, the best stingray ought to be at Balestier Market, How Hup Stall.

Very limited pictures as flash shots were not allowed. Our favourite animal would be Tarsier. They might be the smallest and cutest monkey you ever seen with their huge orbs of innocent eyes. They are also nocturnal and in the list of endangered species. Failed to grab a picture of it because by then it was dark. The asian otters were very cute too as they’re mini in size.

The animal which left the deepest impression would be the bats. They can be pretty large when they spread out their wings fully. They were flying everywhere in the gigantic netted enclosure. You just have to dodge them because it seemed they’re really kinda blind and anyhow fly, not looking what is infront of them. =P I was almost struck deaf by the stupid woman infront of me who was screaming with her lungs out with every step she take.

Duhz! Scared then dont go inside to see lah!

The flying squirrels were an eye-opener too but we didnt see them fly though. Love their bushy tails. But they’re kinda too far high up the tree to see them properly.

The highlight of the whole trip will the the “Creatures of the Night” show. It was only 30minutes but we can just imagine the amount of time they spent in training the small and cute animals. Very entertaining, be sure to catch it when you’re there.

In short, actually we didnt see tons of animals during the night safari. I think we can see more during the afternoon. Perhaps next time. =D

Alright. Here are the pictures but really limited since flash pictures were not allowed as they will harm the eyes of the animals. The ones which I’ve managed were without flash and clear. Most turned out blur.

(Can “X” the SuperPokes on right hand side)

We went Bt Panjang for some late night supper(Satay!!) before going home too. =D

Thank you honey for the lovely day out! Love you always. Smuacks!!
