2nd year anniversary – Part 2

I didnt expect any anniversary pressies because we dont have anything we really want. Really nothinggggg to buy. But dearie still managed to surprise me with a very sweet gift. It doesnt cost much but makes me very happy. Guess what it is?? =D

Kevin’s Perfect Beauty Guide!

Kevin’s make-up magic book!!

My friends will know I love makeup and love to read about them. I saw these 2 books(packaged together) at Popular bookstore before but it costs around $28? Somemore I’m unable to browse it as it’s sealed up, hence I cant determine whether it’s worthy to buy. Hence I didnt buy, but actually I’m pretty interested in the book one lah. =D

And I’m super surprised why dearie knows why I like that! I mean, I picked books and mags up to browse all the time, but somehow he knew these 2 books are different to me. Wow! The feeling of getting a pressie, which you love but dont bear to buy in a surprise is so damn shiok!! Even though they dont cost much. I mean, dearie always buy me pressies for occasions but they’re almost always with my very obvious hints or direct help. ZzzZzz

This is really very unexpected and very sweet. =D

And I told dearie, “hmm…but I thought you’re always very insensitive and “blind” one leh…how come you know?”

He said, “aiya….of course “secret weapon” cannot always use one mah….arbo in future how?”

=.= So cunning.

Sinking into the pillows and bed, amidst the fluffy quilt, it’s heavenly. And guess what we saw?

Pillow menu!!

Wu xim leh!

The choices!

The most interesting one would be the lavender-filled pilow and jasmine green tea pillows!

Haha! However we didnt request for any, because the current ones were already very comfy! And lazy to request lah. Already very paiseh borrow forks, spoons, plates, wine opener, wine glasses liao. =P

Next morning

Bath salt for relaxing bubble bath for bath tub!

Breakfast!! Love it!!

Breakfast, I usually dont have much appetite, nor do I eat much. But I really cant reject….

Smoked salmon!!! So smoked salmon salad it is!! =D
Of course still got other food also very nice. =)

My own pot of tea. I really like it when I can refill myself without limit. Haha.

My dear hubby, although you kept apologizing you never really plan anything, you have made it perfect just by booking the room, buying crabbies for dinner, giving me my pressie, paying all my bugis buys and giving me a wonderful time with your presence!!

Love you lots and to many loving and happy anniversaries ever after!!! Smuacks!!!

2nd year anniversary – Part 1

My friday was gone??!!! Just like that??!!

Sigh….wasnt feeling well. It’s that time of the month again. Sorethroat and running nose, as well as cramps. Spent the day watching 刑警 with dearie and despite it was as early as 7+pm…he started to nod…nod…nod…and drifted into sleep. =.= So he went to nap and only woke up not long ago to eat the Mac delivery I ordered.

He like pig hor? Sleep and eat, sleep and eat. =P

Okie here’s our 2nd year anniversary post. Actually it’s no big deal lah, especially when both of us got so busy and only realised it’s coming Nov during end Oct. Eventually we’re either too lazy or too late to actually plan anything super meaningful.

Actually it doesnt matter to me. =) Last time, when everyone said, “everyday is like Valentines Day when a couple is loving.” I felt it was so cheesy. But now, I realised it’s so true. =D

We checked in our favorite Intercontinental hotel.

Has the prices increased again?? Argghhhh I remembered it was cheaper then. Seriously their rates fluctuate like crazy for peak and non-peak seasons. Humph! Fortunately, the hotel really has nothing much for the fussy me to pick on. =)

Our room!!

Dearie with his iphone

Toilet!

Bathtub. Heehee

Settled our stuff and went Liang Seah street opposite for our lunch!

Opps, forgot the name. It’s some HK cafe just beside Ah Chew Dessert.

:

Dearie’s porkchop rice – normal

:

Love their avocado milkshake!

Spiced tofu – not bad

:

You know hor…nowadays….I realised…it’s like every stall are trying to see whose meat is THINNER. THIS luncheon meat hor, I think got 3mm thick only lor. ZzZZ Suddenly was reminded of the Yu Kee Duck Rice stall also. Theirs, no better, 5mm!! But 2.5mm is the fatty skin, only 2.5mm is the meat! Humph! The soup is not bad, else, it’s like normal soup noodles actually.

:

Of course after eating was shopping at Bugis Village. Bought lots of things which I love!! Cheap and gorgeous, unique as well! I just dont like wearing common stuff on the street, nor do I wish to be loud. =) They all costs less than $100!

A dark blue lace cum synthetic jump suit is my favorite of all. You know a freak like me who has a super short torso is super difficult to buy jumpsuit. Because it’s 1 whole piece, most often, the top part will be too long and hence making the whole suit too long for me. But finally I found this right one!! It’s halter neck, can be tied at the waistline to clinch a narrower waist as well as to make the whole suit fitting. Elastic bands at the pants hem where you can pull them slightly higher than where they should be to elongate the legs.

I love jumpsuits or 1 piece because no need to buy things to match. Haha. Those with shorts are excellent as well for our hot weather. Just that go toilet abit troublesome lah. Bought a beige one too, together with a pull-on jeans with torn details as well as a pair of sheer tights with lots of holes design. Hahaha. Of course have to wear something inside. Love my buys!! Maybe 1 fine day I’ll wear and take pictures.

Actually friends always say erm, like, I’m, you know, figure not bad or well-endowed etc. Actually it’s MERELY because I know how to choose clothings to suit me, not because I have a good figure. Really please lor…my flabby arms…I have troubles waving good-byes loh, so I almost never wave. Lol. I only say “Bye bye!!” =P I’m just a petite freak with a terribly short torso. Muahahahaha.

K. Enough of 自贬.

Bugis village is always so hot!! So back to hotel for a shower.

:

Elemis toiletries! Simply love them because not only smell nice, their shampoo is the best I’ve used. Because I’ve never use a shampoo where the effects of after-washing are like after using conditioner. =D

I googled for it before, not available in Singapore. *sad*

I know you simply hate those water heater where you have to fine-tune 2 silly knobs of both hot and cold water to reach your desired temperature right? Like what right? Sometimes I turn this turn there, turn until pek chey, it’s not as if I’m a radio DJ who’s good at tuning or bartender who’s good at mixing lor.

And most of the time, I’ll leave the tap on, not because I’m wasteful but simply because I will probably chill to death if everytime I need to spend few minutes to tune the right temperature everytime I on it. So I simply let the water run while I shower.

For Intercontinental, I just have to adjust my desired temperature, just a one-time thing.

And turn this lever up to on the shower(the higher you turn up, the bigger the shower), and turn it down to off it. So simple. And they are smart! In this way, I wont waste their water!

What’s for dinner?

:

Crabbies!!! Yummy!! From Melben!!

Together with fried buns, ohhhhh Absolutely delicious!! The sauce was very fragrant and the crab meat was succulent, tender and doesnt sticked to the shell. Huge pincers too! However, the shells were not nicely cracked and it was difficult to pry the meat out. Dearie even accidentally cut his finger and it bleed. =( Next time must ask them to crack more….also….more eggies wouldnt hurt. =P

:

Happy dearie

:

Ah….complimentary tea collection.

We requested for forks and spoons but the hotel staff brought plates as well. Perhaps you dont believe it, but stupid Orchard hotel has the cheek to CHARGE us for the forks and plates we requested for dearie’s birthday cake before. Made me so damn pissed off. Eventually they waived off, obviously stunned by my outburst.

Really what. Borrow forks and plates for your hotel guest’s birthday cake, you also have to charge? You might as well charge me for using tv or aircon? Morons.

The tv has quite many channels too, at least it’s not boring. We opened a bottle of chilled Woodbridge Chardonnay too and we had to borrow wine glasses and wine opener. Somehow, I failed to open the wine…dont know why, I hardly fail!! Opened halfway(with the wine opener stucked in the rubber cork)…and had to ask the hotel staff for help. And he merely pull up the cork effortlessly. Hmm weird, we just cant seem to pull it out leh.

Okie This entry is getting too long….continued in next.

=D

Happy 1 year anniversary

Time flies. It’s the 2nd Nov again.

It’s our 1 year anniversary!!! =)

Before I met dearie, I finally went Chapter 2 at Bugis to use the vouchers Hui gave me; free treatment and haircut. It’s time to trim off the hay-like ends and chee cheong fan fringe. Actually I intended to shop abit at Bugis Village but had no time. Jolin cut my hair and gave it a little layering too since it’s kinda flat. =P Overall, still pretty satisfied.

Dearie had almost forgotten our anniversary date. Oh am I surprised? God no. It’s expected. As I’m a VERY optimistic person and pretty good at 自我安慰 so I surfed around for some nice fine dining place. The French Kitchen it is. I meant to doll up myself abit for the occasion but lost interest looking at my telly tubby tummy. Hence, nothing much except….

I love this pair of glam heels. High enough(lol) and the steel heels. Cool! And it’s below $40 from Design & Comfort. Got it at a sale.

Dearie came to fetch me at Bugis and surprise!

DSC03804

It has been SO LONG since he last gave me a bouquet. =P However dear, next time can dont give carnations? 😛

We ordered the Degustation menu which was a steal at $88++ and it includes an awful lots of things. We further ordered another entrée and a starter. Pretty much prefer to try different courses instead of ordering 2 similar sets.

The French Kitchen, by Jean-Charles Dubois

By the way, he’s a pretty famous chef who used to be the main chef at Raffles Grill.

DSC03805
Raisin bread, soft and crusty, to pair with….

DSC03806
Butter and salmon

They’re wonderful. I’m pretty surprised they gave this complimentary but rather charge $6 for the still water we had. =.=zzz

DSC03821
Soft poached hen’s egg en cocotte with artichoke bouillon and artisanal brioche

Despite it’s classy and long-until-cant-be-longer name, it’s basically a half-boiled egg lah! Albeit with prettier garnishings. Chef Charles is very nice to give 1 more complimentary.

Considering it’s only our 1st visit, it’s truly very surprising and especially warming when our French Chef himself strolled forward and greet us with warmth. Instead of the standard, frosty, “Good evening. I’m the chef. Please enjoy your food.”, he shaked our hands warmly before jokingly advised me to eat the food before it turned cold, because I was crazily taking pictures. Haha.

DSC03823
1 of the entrées, my favourite foie gras;
pan-seared duck liver with ragout of cep mushrooms and salsify

Awesome. Foie gras can never go wrong, except at M hotel. The portion is considered big. The reviews really were true.

DSC03824
Our ala-carte entrée; Char grilled fillet of quail with home-made tarragon gnocchi. fricassé of chanterelle mushrooms, summer truffle vinaigrette

It was truly a very “home-made” taste and the quail was soft and tender. Accompanied with the other side ingredients, it was rather filling.

DSC03825
Traditional lobster bisque with tiger prawn beignet and leek custard.

So cute! The green mini “panna-cotta” look-alike was actually leek custard! But nothing special. Haha. This is our least satisfied dish because of it’s super creamy and milk taste. I dislike the smell of milk and it’s overpowering till I cant taste any lobster flavour. =( The tiger prawns are tempura-style, kinda feel it mismatched with the soup’s taste.

DSC03828
The special starter for the day, not in menu; Pan-seared scallops with asparagus.

I think I saw such giant scallops somewhere but I’ve never seen such giant asparagus! The scallops were seared beautifully with a sauce which tasted pretty oriental to me. So yummy..I wish they gave more than 3. Lol.

DSC03829

Complimentary from the nice Charles again before the main course; Orange sorbet

We almost forget there’s a main course because we were already quite full.

DSC03830
DSC03833
Main course: classic duck leg confit with truffled ratte potatoe puree, sweet cherry and natural duck jus

This duck leg is wonderful, crispy duck skin with soft, tender meat, fully flavoured. Too bad by then I’m already very full and I only ate a little.

DSC03839
Dessert; choux pastry filled with tahitian vanilla icecream, warm chocolate sauce.

There came another surprise!

DSC03837

Isnt this SO SWEEEEET?

Yummy! Despite how full I was already, I managed to gorge some vanilla icecream down and ate a small bite of the chocolate brownie pastry(in the “Happy Anniversary”, beneath the strawberries mountain), because it’s the chef’s effort!

But I’m really too full…hence…haha….pushed all to dearie again. Initially I was curious how they knew about it. Then knew dearie indicated that when he online reserved the seatings. But it’s really so sweet and kind of them. 🙂

Total bill at $215, with no regrets for the food experience, wonderful and warm service. Will definitely go back again. =)

Happy 1 year anniversary Darling. I love you and will always will. 🙂

Happy 2nd Pa-tor anniversary

Mmmmmm….life is so beautiful. =) Am sipping the Chardonnay dearie bought from the DFS when we touched down on friday. Today, or rather yesterday was actually our 2nd year pa-tor anniversary. We opened the bottle at 1+am, and guess what, he only drank 1 glass and that’s it. Always leaving me to finish it, that turtle. We did not celebrate at all. At first I thought, nahz, why not combine with Vday then celebrate together, else so troublesome. But when I think again, I realised it’s a bad idea! Especially when everything is expensive and everywhere is crowded on Vday. Nahz, we’re see how then. I’m not very enthu also if I need to squeeze with hoards of couples.

Anyway, time flies. To think we’ve only together for 2 years but yet, already together for 2 years. It’s a mixture of feelings for I felt as if we’ve been through alot together for very long, but yet at the same time, it feels as if we still have a long way of greater happiness awaiting us. 🙂 Why we feel like lao fu lao qi(lazy to celebrate anniversary), but yet experience none of the boredom which most couples experienced? We cant dont celebrate our anniversary AT ALL but yet be perfectly cheery and happy at home sipping wine and watching “Twilight” on web. =) I dont know what’s gonna happen in future but I’m glad for now, we dont need lavish or romantic stuff to keep our loving relationship going.

Sometimes, I really have this thought. The person whom you can experience total fulfillment, happiness, and wholesomeness with little or zero cost and without s*x(lol), is the best person whom you can spend your life with. NOT that I meant s*x is bad for relationship lah of course. It’s another level of bringing the closeness between 2 together and another…*ahem* wonderful hobby which 2 can share. But obviously, if 2 person can only be happy with s*x involved or only with lavish outings or dinners and totally unsatisfied without s*x, then something is also wrong. =P Just think about it. =)

Okie enough of mushy stuff. I’m meeting the girls on chu 1 26th. Jy is now enjoying her birthday(oh yes happy birthday my darling) at Bali with her hubby. Dil arranged a surprise trip for her, aint that sweet? Well, she said most probably she cant make it on chu 1. Nevermind we’ll have other chance. I’m mostly free for new year as I dont need to bai nian, other than chu 4, the gathering at my boss’s place. I know many friends are organizing gambling dens at their house and wished me to go, but hmm…I’m not so much of a gambling person. Moreover, I dont have alot of luck in gambling. Mahjiong now and then is only for leisure.

I’m thinking of planning a 3 hours gaming session at Settlers Cafe with the girls on Chu 1, followed by drinking at boat quay area since it’s nearby. Kel is salivating for drinks already, given the fact she finally has given birth. HAHA. Or so she said. And I’m bugging all the girls to wear cheongsum that day! Aint that cool? Oh pleaseeeee it will be so cool if all 4 of us wear cheongsums on Chu 1! HAHA. But so far only Kat more onz leh(though she dont have cheongsum, she might buy or borrow mine). Kel have cheongsum one, but dont know if she’s gonna wear it. Gra dont have cheongsum at all. Haiyo! Nevertheless, I’m still gonna wear mine! Call me vain or what! I dont have many chance to wear anyway. =P

During my goalsetting in Macau, I had an interesting lesson. We always have much to learn during our goalset and this time around, we learnt the “Law of Attraction”. I believe some of you who ever cruised in Borders or any bookshops will come across a book called “The Secret”.

If you haven read the book, I shall solve your curiosity and tell you the so-called “Secret”.

The “secret” lies in “The Law of Attraction”.

We actually watched a pretty long 45mins(already summarised) video but it’s basically repeating the same thing. That is, always think of the things you want instead of the things you dont want.

For example, instead of thinking about, “I dont want to be late. I mustnt be late. If I’m late, I might suffer”, think about “I will reach on time. I will be punctual. The traffic will be smooth.” Because the theory lies about each and every one of us has a power, an energy(neng2 liang4) within us and we can attract all the stuff we want if we want it badly enough. The problem with most people is, they always think about the things they’re afraid of, the things they wish to avoid, and the things they dread all the time. Like, “I dont wish to go to work”, “I hate my boss”, I dislike my job”, “The guys I met are all bad” etc. In the law of attraction, the more you think about the negative things above, the more you will attract them.

In the clip itself, they also showed an artist who always paint solo figures in his works while he always longed to have a partner of his own, to have a relationship together. Somehow a fengshui master talked to him(both are angmor by the way) and she told him if she want to have a relationship, he ought to paint it out. Because his inner desires are in conflict of his outer wall, which are the paintings he painted. True enough, shortly after he started to paint pictures of couples, he got a girlfriend and eventually got married.

It’s up to you to believe the law of attraction. But the above scenario reminded me of something. Long time ago, my mum used to tell me not to put pictures of myself solo in my room when I’m single, because that wont attract guys into my life. Instead, I should put group pictures or something. I used to laugh at her logic, LOUDLY. Haha. And I also heard her encouraging her friend who has been yearning babies all those while to put portraits of babies in the house, as well as to go ahead to buy babies clothings. An even more intense approach would be, to adopt a child. It was said that all these will attract arrival of real babies. It seemed it does work as my grandma finally bore 4 sons after the first 5 daughters.

So it seemed all these myths actually fell into place side by side. There are 3 rules to the laws of attraction.

1st: Ask
Say out what you really want, really yearn. Or write out, paint it out. The universe will listen to your desires.

2nd: Believe
Believe that you can get what you yearn. Keep that thought in mind.

3rd: Receive
Respond and react as if you have already owned what you have. E.g, go ahead and buy babies clothings even when you’re not pregnant when you wish for a baby.

There are of course other laws, such as, “when opportunity strikes, ACT.” Meaning, you also cant sit by and do nothing and expect money to fall on you. You still need to work hard yah.

And another law requires you to be appreciative of what you have, everything, everytime. =)

Think about 3 things you appreciate everyday and you will make your life a better one. =)

My appreciation for today
1) thanks to dearie for ferrying me to TPY and back
2) thanks to dearie to accommodate my lousy temper on the way there because my stomach is not feeling well
3) thanks to mummy for preparing a wonderful meal with fried drumsticks, braised lean meat, fishball soup!

Love ya all!

Oh forgot to review 3 movies

Movie title: Red cliff 1
Ratings: 4/5
Comments: I thought it started a little slow, but it gets more exciting behind

Movie title: Red Cliff 2
Ratings: 4.6/5
Comments: You can very well watch part 2 without watching part 1. Not a super big linkage. Part 2 is way more exciting and engaging.

Movie title: Rachel’s getting married
Ratings: 2.7/5
Comments: If you like to know how a wedding takes place with the westerners in western countries, this is the movie to watch. But it’s so damn boring, waste my money. And Ann dont even look chio inside, so much so I have NOTHING to distract myself with.
